Hi, I'm Ted.
I'm a PhD student in electrical engineering at MIT working in the Capasso group at Harvard University.
My interests span from laser physics to metasurfaces. I believe chip-scale integration of optical components will define future technologies. In essence, I want to solve the hardest problems using the smallest possible solutions.
I am looking for positions starting in the fall of 2025.
My research is made possible by the quantum cascade laser (QCL) — a unique laser created by layering semiconductor materials. QCLs bring quantum mechanics to life — manipulating individual electrons in engineered structures to create powerful streams of synchronized light. By adjusting the stacking of the layers, we can “tune” the color of light they emit. The best part: you can fit hundreds into the palm of your hand.
